World Day of Peace, 1 January 2025

In his message for the World Day of Peace 2025, “Forgive us our trespasses: grant us your peace“ Pope Francis suggests three possible actions to remedy the injustices and inequalities that mark our time:

• for wealthy countries to cancel the debt of poorer countries and develop a just international financial system,
• for the death penalty to be abolished everywhere and
• for, “at least, a fixed percentage” of armament budgets to be devoted to ending hunger and providing education for a sustainable future.
