Synod on Synodality Resumes Meeting in Rome
Among the 54 women participants in the Synod are two Sisters of Mercy: Sister Elizabeth Davis rsm from Newfoundland and Sister Angela Perez rsm from Guam, both voting members. This Synod is the first time that women have been allowed to vote in a Synod of Bishops.
The task of this second session is to complete the discernment begun at the first session in October 2023 and offer the result of this discernment to Pope Francis in a final document.
The work of the second session will be guided by a document known as the Instrumentum laboris (working tool), which summarises the “fruit” of the consultations so far.
Fifteen Australians will also take part in this Synod in various roles - as voting members, facilitators or experts.
Join us in keeping the work of the Synod in your prayers.
