International Day for Older Persons, 1 October

Our world is ageing – and this is a triumph of development.(UNFPA) 

We give thanks, O God,  
for a society where people can look forward to long lives,
for the wisdom of older people,
for their faith and experience,
for the sense that older people give us
 of family, tradition and identity,
for the leadership they offer,
for the things they teach,
and all the ways in which they contribute to our families, our community and our church.
