Home Truths: Ending homelessness for women from migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds
Since 2008 the Mercy Foundation has worked to end homelessness, especially chronic homelessness and homelessness concerning women. The results of the many projects funded during this time prove that homelessness is solvable.
Women from migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds face unique challenges and barriers that can lead to homelessness. We recently hosted a forum with experts who spoke about:
- UN initiatives to address this issue
- The responsibility of all levels of government to fulfill the right to housing
- First hand experiences from women impacted by homelessness
- The intersection of forced marriage, violence and homelessness
- Solutions that are ending homelessness
