Celebrating 10 Years of Laudato Si'
Laudato Si', addressed to all people of goodwill, has had a significant impact globally in drawing attention to the issues of climate change and environmental devastation. Terms such as "ecological conversion" and "our common home" used in the encyclical are now widely understood and have motivated ordinary people to act to protect creation.
A week of celebration is planned globally from 24-31 May. In Australia, celebrations are taking place from 16-24 May to align with National Reconciliation Week (May 27 - June 3).
This anniversary is an opportunity for reflection and action on environmental issues, promoting sustainability and a more just economy that respects human dignity and the environment - all themes of the encyclical.
Let us all continue to work towards a more sustainable and just future for all creation.
